Fire/Blast

Fire Simulations and Fire Safety Engineering

We are actively engaged in both consultancy and research activities in the field of Fire Safety Engineering (FSE).

Our team performs full thermo-mechanical analyses using in-house finite element software, enabling advanced simulations for cases that fall outside standard design provisions, such as fire behaviour and residual capacity of masonry structures and other unconventional systems.

We have also developed and implemented simplified fire-resistance checks, based on the 500 °C isotherm method, for the Sika® CarboDur® design software.

Below is an example of a smoke-propagation simulation.

The following video, taken from the referenced academic publication, illustrates the collapse of a rack-supported warehouse subjected to a localised fire, highlighting the importance of global robustness under fire scenarios.
